Gear Vs. Photographer

I know it is not the gear, it’s the photographer…But wow, what you can do with really good gear! I recently took my new D700 to my daughters dance recital and realized that I could do things I could not dream of doing in the past with my old cameras.



For one the low light capability is mind blowing. I set the camera to auto ISO and just let it set it to whatever crazy number it wants too. I have seen no pictures unusable because of noise, and I can light scenes with nothing but a… Continue

Wow, not much going on with this group lately. Maybe now that the summer is over we'll not have as much to do and we'll pick up our cameras and start shooting. I think now that I have my new D700 on order I'll have a great reason to get out and take some pictures. I have lots of learning to do.

Nothing could replace my Gorillapod SLR-Zoom...

I really LOVE my Gorillapod. I actually have two of them. An SLR-Zoom and a regular one. They are awesome "tripods." I not only use them for my camera, I also use them for my off-camera flash. Online Backup....Yeah, we probably should do that.



I know that my pictures are in a bit of danger if something catastrophic happened to my house. (Tornado, fire, exploding air-compressor). But the only backups I do are to external hard drives and DVDs. I have no real off site storage in case of catastrophes. I have considered using Amazon's S3, and now I have heard a lot about Backblaze.…
